Ingredients
Scale
- 4 chops Thick-cut Bone-in Pork Chops (Can substitute boneless if preferred.)
- 2 tablespoons Neutral Cooking Oil (Options include vegetable, canola, or grapeseed oil.)
- 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
- 1 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Paprika
- 2 cups Red Apples (Gala are great for their firm texture.)
- 1 medium Yellow Onion (Contributes aromatic depth.)
- 2 cloves Garlic (Minced.)
- 2 tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Liquid Smoke (Optional.)
- 2 tablespoons Coarse Ground Dijon Mustard
- 2 tablespoons Honey (Use any mild honey variety.)
- 1/4 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper (Adjust to your spice preference.)
- 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley (Optional.)
Instructions
- Trim excess fat from the pork chops. Coat them in oil and sprinkle with kosher salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Heat your skillet over medium-high heat and sear the pork chops for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden brown. Set aside to rest.
- In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if needed and sauté sliced apples and onions for 6-8 minutes until tender and slightly caramelized. Add minced garlic for the last minute.
- Stir in apple cider vinegar, liquid smoke (if using), Dijon mustard, honey, and cayenne. Let it simmer and adjust seasoning.
- Return the pork chops to the skillet, basting them in the sauce until cooked to an internal temperature of 145°F. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot!
