Description

This easy Taco Crescent Beef Pie recipe features a flaky crescent roll crust filled with seasoned ground beef and melted cheddar cheese, topped with fresh lettuce and tomatoes. It’s a perfect family dinner that’s quick to prepare and always a hit.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
  • 1 lb lean ground beef (at least 80% lean)
  • 3/4 cup thick and chunky salsa
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning mix
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • Shredded lettuce for garnish
  • Diced tomato for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Unroll crescent dough and separate into 8 triangles. Press dough over the bottom and up the sides of an ungreased 9-inch square pan or 10-inch pie plate to form a crust.
  2. In a 10-inch skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until thoroughly cooked. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir salsa and taco seasoning mix into the cooked beef. Simmer for 5 minutes to blend flavors.
  4. Spoon beef mixture into the crescent roll crust. Sprinkle shredded Cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  5. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the crust is deep golden brown and cheese is fully melted.
  6. Remove from oven and top with shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes as desired. Serve hot.

Notes

  • This recipe can be prepared ahead and baked just before serving.
  • Add fresh toppings only to the portion you plan to eat immediately.
  • To reheat, preheat your oven to 350°F and warm for about 10 minutes until heated through.
  • This pie does not freeze particularly well as the crescent roll crust tends to become soggy when thawed.
  • Serve with additional toppings on the side like sliced avocado, sour cream, sliced black olives, and green onions.
  • Pair with a simple side salad, tortilla soup, Spanish rice, or refried beans for a complete meal.
