Spiced Creamy Gingerbread Frosting

Spiced Creamy Gingerbread Frosting: 5 Simple Steps

  • Author: Fatima Garcia
  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: Frosting for 2 dozen cookies or 1 cake 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Creamy spiced gingerbread frosting with vanilla. Warm, airy, and perfect for any sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, add the softened unsalted butter. Using an electric mixer, beat the butter on medium speed until it is smooth and creamy, approximately 2-3 minutes.
  2. Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar one cup at a time, mixing on low speed to prevent the sugar from flying out of the bowl. Once all the sugar is added, beat on medium speed until fully combined and fluffy, about 4-5 minutes.
  3. Pour in the heavy cream and continue mixing on low speed until incorporated. Increase to medium speed and whip the frosting for an additional 2 minutes, or until airy.
  4. Add the ground ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, pure vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to the frosting. Mix on medium speed until all the spices and vanilla are well blended and the frosting has an even texture and color, about 1-2 minutes.
  5. Taste the frosting and adjust the spices if desired. If it’s too thick, add more heavy cream one tablespoon at a time until you reach the desired consistency.
  6. Once the frosting is ready, use it immediately to frost your gingerbread cakes or cookies, or transfer it to an airtight container and refrigerate for later use.
