Description

Create delicious Spaghetti Garlic Bread Bowls with ground beef, a comforting fusion of two classic dishes. This recipe features crisp garlic bread bowls filled with savory spaghetti and ground beef, topped with melted cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 to 6 small round crusty bread loaves (sourdough, Italian, or French bread)
  • 7 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan (optional)
  • 1 pound ground beef or ground chicken
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara or tomato basil pasta sauce
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Chopped fresh parsley or basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the garlic butter mixture by combining melted butter, minced garlic, and chopped parsley. Stir in Parmesan if using.
  2. Hollow out the bread bowls by cutting a circle from the top of each loaf and removing the inside bread, leaving about a half-inch border.
  3. Brush the inside of each bread bowl generously with the garlic butter mixture.
  4. Toast the bread bowls in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 10 minutes until golden and slightly crisp.
  5. Cook the ground beef or chicken in a skillet with olive oil, chopped onion, and minced garlic until browned. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning if desired.
  6. Pour marinara sauce into the skillet with the meat and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  7. Add cooked spaghetti to the sauce mixture and toss to coat evenly.
  8. Fill each toasted bread bowl with the spaghetti mixture.
  9. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the top of each filled bowl.
  10. Bake for another 10-12 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Broil for an additional 1-2 minutes for a golden top, watching carefully.
  11. Garnish with fresh parsley or basil and serve hot.

Notes

  • Choose firm, crusty bread loaves for the best results.
  • Use the scooped-out bread for croutons or breadcrumbs.
  • Monitor the broiler closely to prevent burning.
  • Ground chicken or turkey can be substituted for ground beef.
  • Cook pasta slightly underdone (al dente) as it will continue to cook in the oven.
  • Add red pepper flakes to the sauce for a spicy kick.
