These Crabby Shrimp Garlic Bread Bombs are a delicious seafood twist on classic garlic bread. Crusty Italian bread is stuffed with a creamy mixture of shrimp, cream cheese, mozzarella, garlic, and parsley, then baked until golden and crispy. They are perfect as an appetizer or party snack.
Ingredients
- 1 loaf crusty Italian bread
- 60 ml unsalted butter, melted
- 450 g fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 225 g cream cheese, softened
- 60 g mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 15 g fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Red pepper flakes, as desired
Instructions
- Chop shrimp into bite sized pieces. In a large bowl, combine shrimp, softened cream cheese, shredded mozzarella, chopped parsley, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix thoroughly until uniformly blended.
- Slice the Italian bread loaf in half lengthwise and carefully hollow out the center of each half, ensuring a sturdy shell remains to support the filling.
- Distribute the seafood mixture evenly between the hollowed bread halves, gently pressing the filling into each cavity.
- Preheat the oven to 190°C. Brush the outside of each bread half with melted butter. Wrap tightly in aluminium foil and bake for 15 minutes on a baking tray.
- Remove the foil from the bread halves and return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, or until the crust is golden and crisp.
- Allow the bread to stand for a few minutes. Slice into portions and serve warm.
Notes
- For best results, use day-old bread as it will hold its shape better when hollowed out.
- This recipe can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated before baking.
- Leftovers reheat well in an air fryer.
- For a spicier kick, double the red pepper flakes or add diced jalapeños.
- Consider using wild-caught Gulf shrimp for enhanced flavor.
