Description
Savory Marinated Tofu That Will Wow Your Taste Buds
Ingredients
Scale
- 14.5 ounces extra-firm tofu (Make sure to press it well for a better texture.)
- 4 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce (You can adjust the amount for a saltier flavor.)
- 3 tablespoons seasoned rice vinegar (Try substituting with apple cider vinegar if needed.)
- 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup (This brings sweetness and balances the savory notes.)
- 1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil (Adds depth and richness to the flavor profile.)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (Fresh garlic elevates the dish.)
- 1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger (Fresh offers the best flavor; dried is a quick substitute.)
- 2–3 tablespoons neutral oil (Choose a high smoke point oil.)
Instructions
- Cube the Tofu: Cut the extra-firm tofu into bite-sized cubes and place them on paper towels to absorb excess moisture.
- Press the Tofu: Cover with more paper towels, set a baking sheet on top, and weigh it down for 15 minutes.
- Prepare the Marinade: Whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, maple syrup, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
- Marinate the Tofu: Place cubed tofu in a dish, pour the marinade over, ensure each piece is coated, cover, and marinate for at least 1 hour.
- Heat the Skillet: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Fry the Tofu: Add marinated tofu to the skillet and fry until golden brown on each side, about 3-4 minutes.
- Serve and Enjoy: Remove from heat and serve with steamed rice and stir-fried vegetables.
