- 1 pound Ground Beef (or ground turkey/chicken)
- 1 medium Onion (sliced)
- 1 cup Bell Peppers (red/green) (sliced)
- 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 4 slices American/Cheddar Cheese (or your favorite cheese)
- 2 hoagie rolls Soft Rolls
- 2 tablespoons Ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Mayo (or chipotle mayo)
- 1 cup Lettuce & Tomatoes (for freshness)
- 1 medium Avocado (sliced)
- 4 slices Beef or Turkey Bacon (optional)
Instructions
- Sauté the sliced onions, bell peppers, and minced garlic in heated olive oil and butter for about 5 minutes until soft.
- Brown the ground beef by pushing the vegetables to one side and cooking the beef until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Layer cheese on top of the cooked beef. Cover the skillet for 1-2 minutes until melted.
- Butter the cut sides of hoagie rolls and toast them until golden brown.
- Spread ketchup and mayo on the toasted rolls, layer with lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, and beef filling.
- Close the sandwich, optionally return to the skillet to toast for 2-3 minutes on each side.
