Description

Delicious Hanky Panky Appetizers with sausage, beef, and melted cheese are perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground hot sausage
  • 8 ounces Velveeta
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • to taste salt
  • 12 slices party rye bread
  • to taste chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Brown the Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, combine the ground beef and ground hot sausage. Cook until browned and cooked through, breaking up the meat with a spatula as it sizzles.
  2. Prepare the Cheese: While your savory mixture is cooking, cut the Velveeta into cubes to help it melt quickly.
  3. Drain the Grease: Once the meat is fully cooked, carefully drain off any excess grease.
  4. Melt the Cheese: Add the cubes of Velveeta into the skillet with the meat. Stir continuously over medium heat until melted.
  5. Season the Mixture: Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, oregano, garlic salt, and salt to taste.
  6. Preheat the Broiler: Set your broiler to high.
  7. Prepare the Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with slices of party rye bread.
  8. Scoop the Mixture: Use a 2-tablespoon scoop to place the meat and cheese mixture onto each slice of bread.
  9. Broil to Perfection: Pop the baking sheet under the broiler and watch closely! Broil until hot and bubbly, about 2–3 minutes.
  10. Alternate Baking Method: Bake the appetizers in a preheated oven at 350°F for 15–18 minutes if you prefer.
  11. Garnish (Optional): If desired, sprinkle chopped parsley over the hot appetizers before serving.
