Description
These Greek-inspired chicken burgers are a Mediterranean flavor explosion, combining ground chicken with sun-dried tomatoes, fresh dill, and oregano. They cook quickly on the stovetop or grill and are perfect served with tzatziki and feta for an authentic taste.
Ingredients
- 450g ground chicken
- 60g diced red onion
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 60g sun-dried tomatoes, finely chopped
- 30g baby spinach, roughly chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- Butter lettuce leaves (optional)
- Tzatziki sauce (optional)
- Crumbled feta cheese (optional)
- Sliced red onion (optional)
- Sliced tomato (optional)
- Sliced avocado (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the ground chicken, red onion, garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, dill, oregano, salt, and pepper. Use your hands to thoroughly mix all ingredients until well incorporated. This ensures all the Mediterranean flavors meld together in your Greek chicken burgers.
- Divide the mixture evenly into 4 portions. Shape each portion into a uniform patty, about 1cm thick.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the Greek chicken burger patties for approximately 5 minutes per side, until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 74°C. Alternatively, grill the patties over medium heat for the same duration.
- Enjoy the Greek chicken burgers plain or assemble into burgers with your preferred toppings and condiments from the optional ingredients list.
Notes
- Store cooked patties in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
- For freezing, allow cooked patties to cool completely, then freeze on a baking sheet before transferring to a freezer-safe container with parchment paper between layers. Patties will keep for up to 3 months.
- Raw patties can be prepared one day in advance and stored in the refrigerator with parchment paper between each patty.
- These Greek chicken burgers pair excellently with Greek-style fries.
- Leftover sun-dried tomatoes work well in Mediterranean baked feta or Tuscan chicken dishes.
