Description
These Homemade Glazed Apple Fritter Bites are a quick and delicious version of classic apple fritters.
Ingredients
Scale
- For the fritter batter:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ⅓ cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup finely chopped and peeled apple (about 1 medium apple)
- Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
- For the glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 to 3 tablespoons milk
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Gently fold in the chopped apples.
- In a heavy-bottomed pot or deep skillet, heat 2 to 3 inches of oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F.
- Using a spoon or small cookie scoop, carefully drop heaping tablespoons of batter into the hot oil, a few at a time. Fry for 2 to 3 minutes per side, turning once, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove fritters with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth to make the glaze.
- While the fritters are still warm, dip or drizzle them with the glaze. Let the glaze set for a few minutes before serving.
