These Homemade Glazed Apple Fritter Bites are a quick and delicious version of classic apple fritters.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ⅓ cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup finely chopped and peeled apple (about 1 medium apple)
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
  • For the glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix the milk, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Gently fold in the chopped apples.
  3. In a heavy-bottomed pot or deep skillet, heat 2 to 3 inches of oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F.
  4. Using a spoon or small cookie scoop, carefully drop heaping tablespoons of batter into the hot oil, a few at a time. Fry for 2 to 3 minutes per side, turning once, until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Remove fritters with a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth to make the glaze.
  7. While the fritters are still warm, dip or drizzle them with the glaze. Let the glaze set for a few minutes before serving.
