  • 1 cup whole milk ricotta cheese
  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp fresh orange juice (adjust to consistency)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and orange zest in a large bowl. Add the cold butter and cut it into the mixture until pea-sized crumbs form. Fold in chocolate.
  3. Whisk the ricotta, cream, and vanilla in another bowl until smooth. Gently add to the dry ingredients, mixing until it forms a ball.
  4. Shape the dough into a disk about 2 inches high and cut into 8 wedges. Place on the sheet pan, spaced apart.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown on the bottoms. Cool slightly before glazing.
  6. Whisk together powdered sugar and enough orange juice to achieve a thick glaze.
  7. Drizzle the glaze over warm scones and let set for 15 minutes before serving.
