Irresistible Chocolate Orange Loaf Cake That Melts in Your Mouth


Ingredients

  • 200 g Butter (unsalted)
  • 200 g Caster Sugar
  • 2 tsp Orange Extract
  • 4 large Eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 tbsp Milk (dairy-free option available)
  • 175 g Self-Raising Flour
  • 25 g Cocoa Powder
  • 0.25 tsp Baking Powder (if using plain flour)
  • 0.5 Terry’s Chocolate Orange (chopped, optional)
  • 150 g Butter (for frosting)
  • 275 g Icing Sugar (sifted)
  • 25 g Cocoa Powder (for frosting)
  • 1 tsp Orange Extract (for frosting)
  • 12 tbsp Milk (for frosting)
  • Terry’s Chocolate Orange pieces (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 160°C Fan / 180°C / 350°F / Gas Mark 4. Grease and line a 2lb loaf tin with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the butter and caster sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add the orange extract, eggs, and milk. Whisk until smooth.
  4. Sift in the self-raising flour, baking powder, and cocoa powder. Mix gently until incorporated.
  5. Fold in the chopped Terry’s Chocolate Orange pieces, if using.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared tin and smooth it out. Bake for about 1 hour or until golden brown.
  7. Cool the cake in the tin for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Prepare the buttercream by beating together the butter, icing sugar, and cocoa powder. Mix in the orange extract and milk until smooth.
  9. Decorate the cooled cake with buttercream and top with Terry’s Chocolate Orange pieces and orange sprinkles.
