Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil (Adds richness)

  • 1 tablespoon Vegan Worcestershire sauce (Adds umami flavor)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper (Simple seasoning)
  • 1/2 cup Olive oil (Forms the base of the sauce)
  • 2 tablespoons Red wine vinegar (Introduces tangy brightness)
  • 1/2 cup Fresh parsley (flat-leaf) (The star herb)
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh oregano (Adds aromatic notes)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (Minced for flavor infusion)
  • 1 medium Fresno pepper (Provides mild heat)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt (Essential for seasoning)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper (Rounds out flavor)

Instructions

  1. Drain and slice the tofu into roughly 1/2″ steaks.
  2. Press tofu steaks with a towel and weight for about 10 minutes to remove moisture.
  3. Mince the parsley, oregano, garlic, and Fresno chili for the chimichurri.
  4. Whisk together olive oil, red wine vinegar, salt, and pepper for the chimichurri dressing.
  5. Whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, maple syrup, Worcestershire sauce, and black pepper for the tofu marinade.
  6. Mix 2 tablespoons of chimichurri into the tofu marinade.
  7. Marinate tofu steaks for at least 2 hours or overnight in the fridge.
  8. Preheat the grill to 400°F and oil the grates.
  9. Grill tofu steaks for 5-6 minutes on one side until marked, then flip and grill another 4-5 minutes.
  10. Let tofu rest briefly before serving; optionally serve with extra chimichurri.
