  • 2 liters water
  • 3 slices of ginger
  • 3 stalks of green onions
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce (for dipping)

  • Salt, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Clean the chicken under cold water. Pat it dry with paper towels.
  2. In a large pot, bring the 2 liters of water to a boil.
  3. Once boiling, add the ginger slices and green onions to the pot.
  4. Gently lower the whole chicken into the simmering water. Allow it to poach for 30 minutes.
  5. Make sure the chicken is fully cooked by checking that the juices run clear when pierced at the thickest part.
  6. Carefully lift the chicken from the pot and place it onto a cutting board. Allow it to rest for about 10 minutes.
  7. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce and sesame oil for a simple dipping sauce.
  8. Slice the chicken into serving pieces, ensuring you keep the skin on for flavor.
  9. Arrange the pieces on a serving platter and garnish with fresh cilantro.
  10. Offer the dipping sauce alongside the chicken for a delightful eating experience.
