- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound ground pork
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 2 teaspoons Calabrian chili paste (more for extra heat)
- 2 large eggs
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 jar marinara sauce (for serving)
- Olive oil for frying
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) for the final baking stage.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, basil, minced garlic, red pepper flakes, Calabrian chili paste, eggs, salt, and pepper.
- Mix until just combined and form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter.
- In a large skillet, heat a generous amount of olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the meatballs to the skillet in batches, cooking until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- Once browned, transfer the meatballs to a baking dish and pour marinara sauce over them.
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
