Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, panko bread crumbs, apple butter, fresh cilantro, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix gently with your hands until all ingredients are well incorporated.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 large patties or 6 small sliders, ensuring they are uniformly thick for even cooking.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium heat. Cook the burgers for 8-10 minutes per side until fully cooked, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the burgers until they are golden brown on both sides and completely cooked through.
  5. Once the burgers are nearly done, place grated smoked Gouda cheese on top and cover for a minute, allowing it to melt beautifully.
  6. Slice the sweet onion and sauté in olive oil over medium heat. Add a pinch of salt and pepper, cooking for about 20 minutes until soft and golden. Stir in a little apple butter to keep warm and add flavor.
